The Before - selected works by Kim Bennett Porter
This body of work explores the realm where ideas exist before we become aware of them. It investigates the preexisting energy which strikes us in the form of inspiration. Where do the ideas exist? Do they come from within us, only to be accessed when we pay close attention to liminal spaces or do they coexist outside us in the ethers of the universe as the collective consciousness? Perhaps they are separate entities all their own. These pieces play with a visual concept of ideas, bits of knowledge, music, light, color and energy assembling into a transmittable form used by a human partner in the process of bringing them to life in the form of matter.
